L.A. GUNS The Vault at Greasy Luck New Bedford, Massachusetts April 13, 2019 Photos & Review by Frank Piercy The Vault is fast becoming my favorite place to see a show. Tight and intimate, with a small (very small (did I say small?)) photo pit. Not only great music, but just a few doors down is what has become a regular stop for many fans and bands coming thru, Purchase Street Records and as luck would have it, that day was also Record Store Day, but I already had my copy of L.A. Guns latest, “Devil You Know”, on vinyl. That night I was thereRead More →

CHILDREN OF BODOM The Royale Boston, Massachusetts April 17, 2019 Photos & Review by Michael LaFleche The Children of Bodom, an extreme metal band, hailing from Finland arrived in Boston Wednesday night. The “Hexed” tour included several other metal bands including Summoner’s Circle, Wolfheart and Swallow the Sun. The Royale club in Boston’s Theatre District played host to the event, which is actually a great venue for a metal show with a large stage, extravagant lighting and great sound. SUMMONER’S CIRCLE First band due up was Summoner’s Circle, a theatrical metal band that is a mashup of black, doom and death metal. Appropriately, an audienceRead More →

KIX Mohegan Sun – Wolf Den Uncasville, Connecticut April 5, 2019 Photos & Review by Frank Piercy Spending an evening at a casino on (or pretty damn close to) my birthday has become somewhat of a tradition for my wife and me. For the last 10 years (I think but could be wrong) KIX has played Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den in April, and 90% of the time it is the week not only of our anniversary but my birthday, and they are actually one of the bands from the 80’s that she loves seeing live. What a birthday celebration it was, not only were weRead More →

BILLY IDOL AND STEVE STEVENS Lynn Memorial Auditorium Lynn, Massachusetts April 3, 2019 Photos & Review by Michael LaFleche The city by the shore, Lynn, Massachusetts played host to rock legend Billy Idol and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens. The tour has been going now for a couple months and is nearing its end, and the show was smooth and effortless. It was fascinating in that is was a hybrid of large amounts of storytelling interludes between some of the greatest rock songs that Billy was a part of or that Billy was inspired by. The stage was simple, two stools, one for Steve onRead More →

JAKE E. LEE’S RED DRAGON CARTEL The Vault Music Hall & Pub at Greasy Luck New Bedford, Massachusetts March 31, 2019 Photos & Review by Frank Piercy March as the saying goes, comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb, unless you were in New Bedford, MA on this night. L. A. GUNS The Devil You Know An Album Review by Frank Piercy March 29, 2019 I did something I don’t normally do a few weeks ago. I preordered a limited-edition record album from one of my favorite bands on the circuit today, a band I have been a fan since they released their first album back in 1988. Imagine to my surprise when I received an email with the digital download a whole day before the official release of the album. I just had to do this write up after listening to the album. The Devil You Know is the latest album released byRead More →

THE YARDBIRDS City Winery Boston, Massachusetts March 20, 2019 Photos & Review by Michael LaFleche The legendary Yardbirds arrived in Boston Wednesday night almost blowing out the windows of the posh City Winery dinner hall and concert venue. The Yardbirds are on a tour of the states with their ever evolving lineup of expert rock and blues musicians anchored by Jim McCarty on the drum kit, stylish Brooklyn bass player Kenny Aaronson, longtime vocalist and guitarist John Idan, new lead guitarist Godfrey Townsend, Myke Scavone on harmonica. JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURS With Dead Girls Academy and Jared James Nichols The Chance Theater Poughkeepsie, New York March 14, 2019 Photos & Review by Frank Piercy Another night at The Chance! That makes four times in just under four weeks for me. Surely this place is a hot spot for some great music coming through town. This time though, I am here to review the tour for the latest album of guitarist extraordinaire John 5. On a short break from between Rob Zombie albums and tours, John has put together an interesting line up. Kicking the night off is an LA Band, DeadRead More →
