It was evening of music that celebrated the past 50 years of Uriah Heep music. That’s right, 50 years. Uriah Heep started out in 1969, the players have evolved through the years. Guitarist and founding member Mick Box had remained a constant all these years through today. Their latest album from 2018 Living The Dream, is quite extraordinary with an early classic rock sound. Uriah Heep was the supporting band for Judas Priest and the Firepower 2019 Tour.
It was set to be a historic night from heavy metal fans to be present for and a part of. A congratulatory night, Uriah Heep would receive their awards as 2019 Inductees into the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame during this performance.
First, it was was time to celebrate 50 years of Uriah Heep with an hour long set to feature 50 years that also included new material. “Grazed by Heaven” was the first song of the night, from their 2018 album Living The Dream.
The show kicked off at 7:00 PM, there crowd was still filing in during the performance. The arena was not yet filled during their performance, the crowd continued to trickle in during their set. It you missed their set, you missed out, as they put on a great performance. Uriah Heep maintained the stage that night with great energy and enthusiasm. The band looked joyed to be there and sincerely looked like they were having a lot of fun on that stage performing.
Uriah heap is one of those bands that originated out of the late 60s and early 70s and lay the foundation for heavy metal in music as we know it today and having influenced many along the way.
Uriah Heep is Mick Box (guitar), the only original member that has been with the band since 1969, Bernie Shaw (vocals), Phil Lanzon (Keyboard/Organ), Dave Rimmer (bass) and Russell Gilbrook (drums).

Mid-way through the set the band would pause in between songs. Heavy Metal Hall of Fame Founder/CEO, Pat Gesualdo took the stage to say a few words about Uriah Heep before presenting the band with the awards. Gesualdo introducted Martin Popoff to the stage, a Canadian Music journalist and author, co founder of music magazine Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, to say a few words of the band. The band received their awarded as 2019 Inductees into the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame. Such an honor to be present for this sacred metal event at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

It was awe-inspiring to be present to see such a legendary band like Uriah Heep still out performing their songs, some 50 years after their inception. A band that was formed several years before I even existed and their legendary music is still filling venues worldwide. There is something to be said about the magic of heavy music like this.
The band closed out the set with the Uriah Heep Classic, Easy Livin’. Great overall performance from a class act band. Its true that live shows sell albums. After this show and loaded up my iTunes with the rest of the Uriah Heep albums that I did not already have.
