A house is built on a solid foundation. Y&T is an integral part of the foundation that the 80’s rock era of music was built upon. Y&T has been around since the early 1970’s. Y&T was at the forefront of the 80’s hard rock/hairband/arena rock era, before the inception of the other big name bands that we know today. Y&T has had five albums in the Top 100. The first Y&T album was released in 1976. Their most recent studio album, Facemelter, was released in 2010. In 2016, Y&T is still out touring the world, bringing fans to their feet. On a Tuesday night, March 8th 2016, Y&T played The Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Massachusetts.
The Narrows Center is an unconventional concert venue. It is situated on the third floor of a renovated industrial mill from the days of the New England Industrial Revolution. The layout is slightly different than other venues, but there isn’t a bad seat in the house. There was seating throughout the room and standing room in the back and off to the sides. Lighting was simple, but great. Sound quality was superb. Some of the seats are old church pews, perhaps most appropriate for praying to the gods of metal that night. The Narrows is a BYOB facility. I would definitely catch another show here. It was a close, intimate setting for fans to see a great musical performance. It almost felt like it was a private show. The Narrows is definitely a great place to see a show and would recommend seeing a show there. Despite being early in the week on a Tuesday night, the place was packed, all seats filled and standing room lined the outer parts of the room. There was no shortage of Y&T fans in Fall River that night, excited fans came from all over the New England to see this show.
Y&T brought it like it was 1985. Dave Meniketti was truly amazing. Far beyond my expectations of what I was anticipating that night. Meniketti shreds on the guitar, probably one of the underrated guitarists to come out of the 80’s rock era. I have a whole new appreciation for him by seeing him play live and in person. His vocals were spot on and top notch, Meniketti is high energy in his style of guitar and vocals. He and the band did not slow down once during their almost two hour and twenty minute performance of Y&T hits that spanned well over thirty plus years of their music catalog.
The members of Y&T have changed over the years since their inception in 1974, but the band still rocks with some very talented and high energy musicians. Y&T is Dave Meniketti lead vocals/lead guitar, John Nymann (guitar), Brad Lang (bass) and Mike Vanderhule on drums. Y&T put on an amazing show. Well beyond all expectations. Here is the set list for the night:

An amazing Y&T set. If the crowd wasn’t energized enough from the beginning, Y&T took it up ten notches with “Mean Streak”. The crowd was on their feet with standing ovation for several minutes at the end of the song. That wouldn’t be the only raucous praise the band received that night, there were many other songs within the set, which set the crowd off in prolonged cheers and applause in awe of Meniketti’s performance. Just a 100% pure amazing rock n’ roll show. If Y&T is coming to a city near you, do not miss them. Visit the Y&T webpage to see the upcoming tour dates.
