It is really something great when you are out to see a show and the opening band is just simply amazing. That is what happened with the opening band for House of Lords at The Stafford Palace Theater on September 4th. Crossing Rubicon fit right in with the rock n’ metal genre and was a perfect compliment opening band for House of Lords. Crossing Rubicon is the second generation of metal. Keeping with the sound and look of what a metal band should be. Crossing Rubicon kept their musical momentum going throughout their entire set, led by Scotty Anarchy. A band full of talented musicians who pulled together to create some really great melodic metal, of all original music.
Crossing Rubicon is based out of Bristol, Connecticut. This heavy metal quintet has a strong female rhythm section, with Brandi Hood on drums and Jeanne Sagan on bass. Hood was quite impressive and powerful on the drums. Along with Steven Riccio and Zack Lambert on guitar. Then there is Scotty Anarchy, who is what you want with any modern metal front man. Great vocals, the stage presence, metal look and great voice. Crossing Rubicon has all the ingredients of an up and coming metal band. You can tell this band takes their music seriously. Their original songs were no-nonsense, well played and perfectly arranged.
The set list for the night was as follows below:
-Who’s Gonna Save You
-Do We Not Bleed
-Unhinged
-Cut Deep
-Never Again
-Tomorrow Never Comes
-Bittersweet Day
-Violet Carson
-Perfection In Life
-The Fallen
-Return to Atlantis
-Sweet Surrender
All songs were great. The final song, “Sweet Surrender” had great melodic guitar riffs, comparable to Iron Maiden and Queensryche. A great song to finish off the night.
Keep an eye out for this band. They are slated to be heading out with nationwide tour dates. They have a new album coming soon, “No Less Than Everything”. Crossing Rubicon has several shows lined up in the Connecticut area towards the end of September 2015. Check out their new album and catch them at their upcoming shows. They won’t disappoint.
